Polyhouse Films

The polyhouses are constructed with the help of ultraviolet plastic sheets, so that they may last for more than 5 years. The structure is covered with 1501 m thick plastic sheet. The structure is prepared with the bamboos or iron pipes. Iron pipe structure is costly but more durable than bamboo. Generally the length of the polyhouse is 25-30 feet and width 4-5 feet. The direction of polyhouse is always East to West, so that the maximum sunshine is available. The house should not be constructed in shade. The size of polyhouse may differ depending on the necessity. The polyhouses are kept cold or hot depending upon the season.

From the point of view of earning more profit only such off-season crops should be grown, which are being sold at higher prices in the market. Big hotels in cities are mostly in the need of off-season vegetables and so is the case with some prosperous people in big cities. In such areas and also in the hill and remote regions where fresh vegetables are required regularly for meeting out the requirements of security forces, the construction of polyhouses is more lucrative and is a must. The crops grown under the polyhouse are safe from unfavorable environment and hailstorm, heavy rains or scorching sunshine, etc. Crops of the polyhouse can be saved from birds and other wild animals. The humidity of polyhouse is not adversely affected by evaporation resulting in less requirement of water. In limited area of polyhouse, insects and pests control is also easy and less expensive. By adopting the modern technology of polyhouse, the difference in the demand and supply of off-season vegetables and fruits etc. can be minimized. This facilitates in maintaining the quality of the product also.

  • Producing half hardy perennials or bedding annually grown from seed both during sowing and pricking out.
  • Protect tender plants and bulbs during the winter months.
  • Grow hobby plants such as chrysanthemums, fuschia’s or exotic orchids.
  • Cultivate indoor pot plants.
  • Cultivate alpine species.
  • Use it for commercial purposes.

Most of the time, the owners prefer Mutually Controlled System or Semi Automatic Controlled System for green house, because of low investment. But in such type of Control Systems it requires a lot of attention and care. Also it is very difficult and cumbersome to maintain uniform environment inside the Green House. Ultimately this affects crop production, non uniform growth and low quality of the crop. Computerized Control System is the solution to come over this problem and to maximize returns. Computer provides a faster and precise operation in the Green House. Also it stores, displays and prints the Green House information as needed.

Computer can do the following operations as per the pre-scheduled programme:

  • Starting and closing of Micro Irrigation System.
  •  Application of Liquid Fertilizer or Water Soluble Fertilizer (N:P:K) and
    other Nutrients to the plant.
  •  Operation of Misting System as required.
  • Opening and closing of ventilators and side wall roll up curtains as needed.
  • Operation of shading net / Thermal screen.
  •  Operation of cooling pad and fan.
  • Operation of heating system.
  • Operation of CO2 Generator, Climate Control, Temperature, Humidity, Heat
  • Radiation, Control of EC, PH, PPM level in irrigation water etc. as required to the plant.

  • Optimized Humidity control
  • Irrigation and water saving
  • Nutrients supply
  • Quality
  • Energy conservation
  • Development of a modern Management and control package.

Mulching Paper

Mulching is the process or practice of covering the soil/ground to make more favorable conditions for plant growth, development and efficient crop production. Mulch technical term means ‘covering of soil’. While natural mulches such as leaf, straw, dead leaves and compost have been used for centuries, during the last 60 years the advent of synthetic materials has altered the methods and benefits of mulching. The research as well as field data available on effect of synthetic mulches make a vast volume of useful literature. When compared to other mulches plastic mulches are completely impermeable to water; it therefore prevents direct evaporation of moisture from the soil and thus limits the water losses and soil erosion over the surface. In this manner it plays a positive role in water conservation. The suppression of evaporation also has a supplementary effect; it prevents the rise of water containing salt, which is important in countries with high salt content water resources.

1. It is completely impermeable to water.
2. It prevents the direct evaporation of moisture form the soil and thus limits the water losses and conserves moisture.
3. By evaporation suppression, it prevents the rise of water containing salts.
4. Mulch can facilitate fertilizer placement and reduce the loss of plant
nutrient through leaching.
5. Mulches can also provide a barrier to soil pathogens
6. Opaque mulches prevent germination of annual weeds from receiving light
7.  Reflective mulches will repel certain insects
8. Mulches maintain a warm temperature even during nighttime which enables seeds to germinate quickly and for young plants to rapidly establish a strong root growth system.
9. Synthetic mulches play a major role in soil solarisation process.
10. Mulches develop a microclimatic underside of the sheet, which is higher in carbondi-oxide due to the higher level of microbial activity.
11. Under mulch, the soil structure is maintained during cropping period
12. Early germination almost 2-3 days.
13.  Better modulation in crops like Groundnut.
14.  Less nematodes population.
15. Water erosion is completely averted since soil is completely covered form           bearing action of rain drops.
16.When compared to organic mulches, it serves for a longer period.

Fruit Covers / Crop Covers

General Information :
Application: Sidwin Fabrics USED as a covering material for garden, protective material from agriculture vermin, heavy rain, hall rain, over heating. This material ensures optimal microclimate for growth of plants and reduces periods of maturing; it is also used as a covering material for greenhouse, garden-beds and for protection from frost ; SUF-MK-60 – as a covering material for ground mulching and dealing with weeds.
Packing :
Material is reeled in rolls (weight of roll is as per customer requirement), wound round paper tube and wrapped up in polyethylene film. Sidwin Fabrics are almost 80% transparent and with their uniform structure are uniformly water permeable. Plants covered with Sidwin Fabrics can be fertilized afterwards if required.
Applications :
Sidwin Fabrics can be used very successfully by small and large farmers alike including for kitchen gardening. They are ideal when healthy seedlings and plants need protection from pests, insects and other environmental factors and where both quality and yield need to be improved.
